Hello there!  Easter will be here in just one month and I am getting a head start on decorations this year.  Today I am sharing how you can create this no-fuss Simple Easter Tablescape Decor using glass jars and chalky finish paint for glass.  This craft project is a inexpensive and easy way to bring spring time into your home.  All you need is some glass jars, paint, and brushes.  I love the bright colors and rustic look to this tablescape.  And, you can use these decorations all spring and summer long!

Chalky paint is by far my favorite type of paint to work with.  It is very forgiving, easy to use, no-prep, and I love the chalky matte finish.  I bought this cute Fresh Cuts glass jar at Michael’s in their new Fresh Market section along with the pink and green bouquet of flowers inside the jar.  Both the jar and flowers were 40% off and knew I wanted to use it for my Easter tablescape this year.  The rope around the neck of the jar is what drew me to this particularly piece.  I love the way it looks.  I also bought two glass candle votive that have raised edges that create dimension and are perfect for painting.

Supplies:

  • Americana Chalky Finish for Glass – 2 oz in Primitive
  • Americana Chalky Finish for Glass – 2 oz in New Life
  • Americana Chalky Finish for Glass – 2 oz in Relic
  • Paint Brushes
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Cotton Balls
  • Fine Grit Sand Block or Paper

Materials:

  • Fresh Cuts Glass Jar with Rope found at Michael’s (you can find a similar one HERE)
  • Glass Candle Votive with Raised Edges found at Michael’s (votive candle holders and bird nest)

Instructions:

Start by cleaning the glass surface using rubbing alcohol.  For the Fresh Cuts jar, I removed the rope to prepare the glass to work with.

Once you have cleaned all the glass surface, let dry before applying paint.

For the Fresh Cuts jar, I applied two coats of Americana Chalky Finish for Glass in New Life using a synthetic brush.  Let the first coat of paint dry before applying a second coat.  Once the paint was completely dry, I used a fine sand block to lightly sand over the words Fresh Cuts.  This technique makes the words pop off the jar.  You could distress the jar more if you wanted to.

I painted both candle votive with one coat of the light chalky finish paint in Primitive.  I let that coat dry and applied the darker color Relic just over the raised edges.  This creates a nice distressed look without having to sand the glass.  These colors are neutral and can be use for any home decor project.

*Let paint dry 4 days.  Bake 30 minutes at 325 degrees F in non-preheated oven (at temperature).  Cool with oven door open.  Dishwasher safe.  Not for direct contact with food.

I placed floral Spanish Moss inside the candle votive along with a pre-made birds nest with eggs I bought at Hobby Lobby. You can find a similar birds nest HERE.

To finish my Simple Easter Tablescape Decor, I added a vintage book I bought at an antique store to display the Fresh Cuts glass jar.  I also added a white bunny and floral stems for pops of fresh spring color.  I just love how my tablescape turned out!  Have you ever used chalky finish for glass before?  What is your favorite Easter decoration?

Love this! This may be a dumb question but where do you find the jars that say “Fresh Cuts”?
